The same benefits that apply to other PCAT systems are even more advantageous for situations where working space and access is particularly difficult and headroom is limited such as in tunnels and underground railways.

PCAT UGR can be manufactured with embedded rails that reduce track height, and by omitting the transverse drainage ducts further reductions in the slab depth can be achieved.

Rail height reductiong and optimisation of headroom can also be useful for surface railway applications where greater headroom is required under existing bridges.

The lightweight voided modular slabs combined with the rapid installation technique and precise dry interlocking and jointing tensioning systems has a major advantage over other systems that require grouting and in-situ concrete to be placed and cured before the line can be commissioned.
